TRAINING

CLUB TRAINING NIGHTS

Club training nights run between September to early April at North Canterbury BMX Track. While coaching is mainly for club members, we invite those wanting to give BMX go for the first time to come along to our beginner sessions at 4:45pm-5:45pm Tuesdays.

Your first THREE sessions in this group are FREE. Any bike is suitable, long pants, long sleeves, gloves, full face helmet are compulsary, but we have equipment that we can lend out for these sessions.

Training groups run on Tuesday nights (2025/2026 season)

Sprockets & Juniors  4.45pm – 5.45pm

Intermediates & Seniors  6.00pm – 7.00pm


PARENTS PLEASE NOTE:

You must be present at all times during your child’s training, or at least have a clearly nominated carer who you know well and has your contact details in case of emergency.  BMX has a higher injury risk than many other sports, so we have to insist that you do not “drop and run” like you might do with some other sports.

TRAINING GROUPS

At the beginning of the season our Coaching Co-Ordinator will advise you which group you/your child will be in.


ANNA'S GROUP

Sprockets & Juniors – Those riders new to BMX just learning the skills and those riders starting as a Strider or Sprocket.

BEN & BROOKLYN'S GROUP

Advanced Sprockets & Juniors – Those Junior and advanced Sprocket riders who have a few seasons riding.

LOGAN'S GROUP

Intermediate – These are the advanced Junior riders with competitive racing experience aged approx. 9-13 yrs.

Senior – all adult riders including the Senior Advanced riders and skilled 14+yrs riders.

All abilities are catered for as we work on gate starts, race strategy, and fitness. Sometimes we have low key racing with the emphasis on fun.
