Helpful Info for Coaches/Managers

Club Fees

All fees must be paid by 30th October; no player can take the field if fees remain unpaid after that date.

Club Captains

Christine Wilson is the Junior Club Captain and Chopper Jason Gerbes is the Senior Club Captain.

Training Equipment

Dave Naera is the Club’s Gear Steward and you should contact him to arrange for training equipment, i.e. balls, bases, etc.

NHSA Rules and By-laws

Ground Registrations

Ground registrations must be forwarded to the NHSA office within 5 days of the first day played.  Teams are responsible for paying ground registration fees to the club.

Inter-Club and Inter-Association Transfers

These should be given to a club member to get signed off.   Teams are responsible for ensuring transfer fees are paid to the club.

Defaults

Defaults – must be notified to the team concerned by noon on day prior to game – a fine of $50 will be payable by the team concerned if this is not done.

Team Cards

Team Cards must be filled out correctly otherwise the team concerned is liable for the fine imposed by NHSA – note the new team cards. https://www.northharboursoftball.co.nz/FORMS-DOCUMENTS-1/Forms-2#

Liquor Licensing Laws

A reminder that you cannot bring your own alcohol onto the park, and if you have a visitor to the clubrooms you must sign that person in.  This is being closely monitored by the Police and Liquor Licensing Authority.  There will be no drinking on the diamonds – members are asked to change out of their uniforms before coming into the clubroom.

Caps, Sox and Undershirts:

Players must provide their own caps, sox and undershirts. The club stocks these items for sale.  See Andrea Arblaster for a price list and to arrange purchases. (You can also check the NHSA shop for caps and other gear).

Coaches Polo Shirts

The club will provide a polo shirt for coaches and this must be worn at all times during game time.

Compulsory Wearing of Caps

All players must wear a Northcote Softball club cap on the diamond.

Club Uniforms

Players cannot wear club uniforms for training or representative trials/trainings.  The club coach can approve wearing of club chest protectors and leggings at representative team trials and tournaments but prior approval must be given. Players cannot use club uniform as personal clothing items (except jackets and caps that individuals purchase from the club). 

Uniform Allocations

All uniforms must be returned to the club at the end of the season at which time any repairs are carried out and decisions made about replacements for the following season.

U9 T-BALL Grade

This grade has been established to ensure that the pathways created by Kiwi Sport are achieved. An Additional outcome is to also provide an option for parents who feel their child requires more time to be supported emotionally and physically in their development with a Tee. We would encourage all Clubs to engage with parents as to what is best for the Children, but guide them to at least in their final year of under 9’s progress to the Pitching Machine option, to ensure that they are experienced in the delivery of the ball from the mound in preparation for Under 11’s.

U11, U13 & U15 Grades

NHSA has released grade specific rules to help the development and retention of players. Please check these within the NHSA Competition Rules & By-Laws. Link above.

NO METAL CLEATS

NO METAL CLEATS are to be worn on the Grass diamonds due to the AstroTurf inserts that have been put in place (Rubbers are allowed). Anyone found wearing METAL CLEATS will incur a FINE of $50, this will be charged to the Club.

Umpiring Duties

ALL Grades will need to umpire themselves if there is no “Official Umpire” Appointed. If this is the case the first named on the draw is to do this. If Officials are available for your games, they will be made to the draw on each Thursday Night.

Game cancellations

All weekend game cancellations are notified on the NHSA Facebook Page and by Email/Text to

Club Secretaries from 7am for juniors and 11am for seniors. NHSA answer phone also has updates 09 4158935.

Hardship provisions:

Where there is genuine hardship, the Treasurer may make special arrangements for fees to be paid in installments and, providing these arrangements are abided by, then the above conditions will not apply.

Dispensations: can be granted at the discretion of the NHS Board (not more than 3 players in one team are to be age dispensated – and must be marked with an asterisk on the team card otherwise loss of points or a fine will result.)

Don Freeman Memorial Tournament:

The Don Freeman Memorial Tournament will be held at Rosedale Park on a date to be advised and all teams are invited to participate. 

Team Bank Accounts:

No individual team can hold a bank account unless it is part of the club’s financial structure and reconciled monthly for reporting to club meetings.

Mel Irvine is organising publicity during the season - if you have a good angle for a news story get in touch with Mel. One management person to text results thru each week for Socials posting.

No Smoking

No member of a team may smoke while in uniform - either in the dugouts or around the game.
