iScore Guide. Softball NZ use iScore for electronic scoring. Softball NZ use this purely to relay the game across the internet as some of the statistics produced aren't correct.
Stat Trak Manual. For use with the Stat Trak statistics progamme used by Softball NZ.
Game Planning Form. This is a basic team list and diamond layout that your coach may find useful.
The basics you need when scoring are:
A scorebook
Fine width blue or black, red and green pens, mechanical pencils
Narrow twink type white out
Eraser if using a pencil
A ruler (plastic protractors work well and don't break as easily)
One of the above resource manuals for quick reference
Post it notes for jotting down queries or game plays when things happen quickly
A hard shell clip board box for keeping your gear in and for a hard writing surface
Not essential but useful is the Softball NZ Rule Book available from Harbour Softball or the Gear Shop on Saturdays. Click here for a link to an electronic copy at Softball NZ.
Where you sit in the NZ Scorers’ scheme of things
Level 1 = actively scoring (most team scorers… probably YOU)
Level 2 = passed the NZ Scorers theory exam
Level 3 = passed the NZ Scorers practical exam
Level 4 = passed the NZ Scorers badge practical exam
Levels 5 - 7 = promotion to and retainment is based upon assessments
You can go as far as you want and most are quite happy at Level 1.
Harbour Softball Scorers' Clinics We strongly encourage you to attend the Harbour Scorers' clinics at least once on Wednesday nights in the Rosedale Room under the stadium from 6pm to around 7.30pm. Stay as long as you want and go as often as you want. It is fully flexible and caters for all abilities. It is a great forum for sharing queries and learning from other scorer's queries. Bring your scorebook.
