Football comes to Kaitaia's Te Hiku Sportshub

The first game of football at Kaitaia’s Te Hiku Sportshub was played last weekend between Kaitaia Utd Women and Kerikeri CCTV Community Women.

The match represented months of work to make happen from local team Rebecca Cosner and Larissa Braithwaite, with NRF’s James Coleman given the honour of refereeing the first half and Kaitaia Utd FC Club President Frank Malley taking the second.

The game was very much a festival affair played in good spirits with both teams commenting on the quality of the facilities including the changing rooms and the meeting rooms and kitchen area available for after match hosting.

Te Hiku Sportshub officially opened in 2024 and is a valued community asset with aquatic facilities alongside football, rugby, league, netball and hockey.
