This winter season, Positive Vibes Only is coming to Wellington. This is the chance for your club, code or school to become part of a positive movement in youth sports that’s sweeping Aotearoa.

Why are we doing this?

Tamariki and rangatahi tell us that the main reasons they play sports are for fun and to hang out with their mates. But when behaviour gets ugly on the sidelines or the pitch, the fun disappears. And so do the players.

What is Positive Vibes Only?

The Positive Vibes Only experience is designed to encourage, support, and create a positive environment for tamariki, rangatahi, and those who support, administer, referee, umpire, coach, and manage sport.

Positive Vibes Only focuses on positivity and helping people change their language and behaviour rather than highlighting the negativity. It’s all about creating positive environments for everyone to enjoy sport.

It is more than just marketing. Positive Vibes Only comes with education to help organisations make a culture shift, and teams and spectators to make a behaviour shift. Shifts that need to happen, towards a more positive sporting experience.

Created by Sport Waikato, Positive Vibes Only can now be found all over the motu.

How to get involved

If you are ready to join the best codes, clubs and schools bringing the vibes this season, we’re ready to help!

We’ve got everything you need – so get in touch with Graham (grahamw@nukuora.org.nz) or click the button above to get started.

Once you’ve got in touch:

  1. We'll take you through a workshop about Positive Vibes Only.

  2. If that sounds like you, you can then sign an agreement with us. That gives you access to ongoing support and all sorts of resources to help you bring the vibes.

  3. Once you're part of the movement you can:

  • Find a champion, or Vibe Bringer, to lead the movement. Get them out and about at your matches, in Positive vibes pink and talking about the great things positivity can do for sports.

  • Talk about it with your supporters. Post about Positive Vibes Only on your socials. We’ve got plenty of resources to help you create posts and share your positive vibes online.

  • Get your pink on! Encourage your teams, coaches, supporters and officials to dress in pink and bring the positive vibes.

  • Reward the vibe bringers. Reward players or supporters who really bring a dose of positivity to games by giving them a shout-out on socials or presenting them with a little prize or certificate. Positive rewards lead to positive vibes.

  • Work out how to embed positive vibes at the very heart of everything your organisation does.

If you’ve got any questions or need help, get in touch with Graham (grahamw@nukuora.org.nz).
