With the help of Meridian Energy, the Otago Rowing Association are able to provide support to coaches in their first years of coaching, that are coaching school-aged rowers.
Meridian Coaching Scholars receive up to $800 of financial assistance including equipment, and are offered training opportunities, useful seminars and mentoring from our Coach Support coach.
Applicants must be doing regular coaching sessions each week and must be available for regattas including Maadi Cup where applicable.
Requirements:
- Year 13 students and older may apply and be awarded the scholarships. The scholarships are not just for recent school leavers but for any coaches in their early years of coaching.
- An individual can only be awarded the scholarship for a maximum of three years total.
- A school can only nominate one coach for the scholarship and scholarships cannot be shared between coaches.
- The applying Coach must engage with the ORA Coach Mentor and have them attend at least 3 session on or off the water.

Due Monday 18th November 2024 along with an email to manager.ora@gmail.com from your school's TIC or head coach endorsing your application. Emma, the ORA manager, will then email them to make sure the School Principal also endorses your application.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to get the email sent by the 18th November.
