Welcome to the Otamatea Netball Club

​​​​​​​We are a small rural netball club based in Maungaturoto, Northland.  Our ever-growing club has 5-7 teams each year, starting at year 7 through to year 13.  Our teams play weekly at Whangarei Netball Center and compete in local and regional tournaments throughout the year as well. 

We will be holding our 2026 trials in February at Otamatea High School.  Past players will be emailed details closer to the time. If you are new to our club and would like to join a team, please email otamateanetball@gmail.com for more information. Our club is based at Otamatea High School; however as a club we also welcome homeschoolers and others from outside of our school. 

Senior Trials

Year 9 - 13 students if you are interested in playing netball in Whangarei on a Saturday please pick up a registration form from the main office at Otamatea High School (or email the club). Trial cost is $10 (non refundable).

Trial Dates (you must attend at least two trials to be considered in a team):

Saturday 14th Februrary 9am - 12pm

Wednesday 18th February 2.30pm - 4.30pm

Thursday 26th February 3.45pm - 5pm

Junior Muster

We invite all Year 7 & 8 students to join us for a pre-season muster on Wednesday 11 March, 2.15pm - 4pm. 

You can pick up a registration form from the OHS office.

Coaches and Managers

As our club continues to grow and players move on, we are always in need of new Coaches and Managers.  If you would like to be a coach or manager in 2025 or would like to know more about what is involved with each role, please visit the Coaches and Managers page.

Helping our club

We have a very dedicated committee, which is made up of Parents, Teachers, and Otamatea High School staff. There are many roles within the committee, and we would greatly appreciate help in any way.  Visit the Helping Our Club page to view the different roles and what is required.  

Rules of Netball

As with all sports, the rules are regularly reviewed and tweaked to ensure a better game for all.  In 2024 the rules of netball received a few adjustments, this includes the removal of a Toss Up among other tweeks to the rules.
