Papamoa Rugby Club was founded in the 1980s back when Papamoa was farm, sand and sea. Officially incorporated in 2003, the club has a family focus, serving kids, adults and old guys alike: Some of our old guys were original junior players back in the 80s!

Come along to Blake Park in the Mount at breakfast time on a winter Saturday morning and you will see a few hundred kids in blue and orange, racing about playing ripper rugby against other Tauranga Clubs. Throughout the morning the play progresses to full tackle from U8s up where kids are learning new skills and thinking they are a Savea brother.  At lunchtime, back in Pap and various other grounds, the 15 aside teams (U11 upwards) will be taking on the rest of the town and things are starting to get serious.

Turn up after lunch and you’ll experience the hard-hitting senior team, a bunch of comrades some of whom have played together for over 20 years. Witness the gritty action which only comes with watching locals come up against each other – some of these guys have been adversaries since primary school.

Let’s not forget the Potbellez - officially called ‘golden oldies’ they’re more like grizzled wild men. On Sunday you’ll see relaxed hilarity and old scores to settle.

Come along to the Papamoa Recereation Centre at Gordon Spratt Reserve on a Saturday afternoon, to check out the action yourself – newcomers are always welcome!

2026 Junior Fees

$65.00 Per Under 6 - Under 10 Player

$80.00 Per Under 11 - Under 13 Player

$150.00 for a family of 3 or more players 

Please note, it is important you only register for a team if you can commit to playing the whole season, it is very difficult to create teams only to have players change their mind and drop out and that often leaves us turning away players and then finding ourselves short of numbers mid-season. Refunds won't be processed for players who simply change their mind.

Also note that many of our teams have limited numbers, we may be in the position to have to turn away players if certain grades are over subscribed and your player can't play in another grade, preference will be given to players who have played for the club before then new players, we will do our very best to accommodate every eligible player we possibly can.
