Information about the WBOP Junior Grades U6-U13 for 2024

U6 –  Squads of around 10, playing upto 10 aside.  Ideally no midweek trainings and instead a 20 minute skills session on a Saturday at Arataki Park, followed by two 20 minute 5 aside games (all players play both games).  One game vs each other and one vs another club team.

Please note: to be eligible for U6 your child must be a minimum of 4 years as of 1st January 

U7 – : 7 aside Ripper Rugby with boots or shoes played on half field (non competitive) 7 aside this year with smaller squad numbers. Games will be played at Arataki Park.

U8-U10 - Non Competition Grades on half a field (weight graded)

The U8-U10 grades are all played at Blake Park (Mount Maunganui) on a Saturday morning between 8.30am and midday.  (U8s start first).

U11 - Changes this season - Non Competitive, 12 aside on a three Quarter field, played home and away at grounds spread around Western Bay of Plenty, Non Contested Scrums, Contested Line-Outs (no lifting), No Conversions. (Weight Graded)

U12s-U13 - Competition grades played full field at various grounds around Tauranga from 8.30am onwards (U11s first) These grades are all weight graded and competitive

Players in U8 and up who are weight graded will be officially weighed at registration (one only weigh in for season)
