Papatoetoe AFC is an inclusive family oriented club that values the diversity of its community and is committed to providing a player pathway from grassroots to elite.

The junior/youth section of the club comprises:

• First Kicks - players turning 4, 5 and 6 during 2024 (see separate dropdown menu for further details)
• Fun Football - players turning 7 and 8 during 2024 (see separate dropdown menu for further details)
• Junior Football - players turning 9 through to 12 during 2024
• Youth Football - players turning 13 and upwards during 2024

First Kicks/Fun Football is all about children having fun and more kicks on the ball.  Parent involvement is important.

For the age group leagues (9th grade upwards), the age a player turns during the year is the age grade they should play.  As we are a smaller club it is sometimes necessary to mix ages to form teams.  Points tables are not kept for 9th through to 12th grade teams.  As with the younger age groups it is still about having fun for these grades.

For 9th and 10th grade games are played on a small field with seven players on the field at any one time. 

For 11th and 12th grade games on played on a small field with nine players on the field at any one time.

For 13th grade and upward games are played on a full field with 11 players on the field at any one time. 

For most age group games referees are not allocated by our Federation.  The club encourages parents to complete the Club Based Referee course.
