CENTRAL DEVELOPMENT LEAGUES

2025 saw the launch of the Central Development Leagues for U13 and U15 boys as well as U13 and U14 girls. These were launched to replace the Central Federation Talent Centre programme which had previously seen the most talented local players representing the region after a trial process.  In 2026 the age groups changed to Boys U13, U14 and U15 and Girls U13 and U15.

Our Palmerston North United CDL squads were selected from players registered for the Academy during term 1. Players who did not make those squads were still able to take part in the Academy training programme throughout the year and also be involved with various game days and tournaments through the season.  

Players not involved in the CDL squads played their team/club football at the local schools/clubs they are affiliated with as usual. We worked closely with the local schools to ensure players could still represent their school teams when possible.

Our teams had a very successful first season, winning the U13 and U15 boys competitions and U14 girls competition. Congratulations to the players and coaches.

There is a Pre-Academy during term 3 where our U9-U12 players have 3 game days against teams from clubs around the Central region.
