Mainland Badminton Tournament πΈ
The Mainland Badminton Tournament is a three-day annual event held each September for players who have finished high school and are under the age of 34. It brings together competitive and social players from across the region for a weekend of high-quality badminton, networking, and fun.
Getting Involved π€
Competition dates are confirmed at the start of each year, and all interested players are placed into appropriate teams where possible.

π To be eligible for representative teams, all players must be registered members of the South Canterbury Badminton Association.

The Mainland Badminton Tournament is not a sanctioned team event but offers a fun and competitive option for players turning 35 or older in the year of competition. Designed for players looking to either return to competitive play or simply enjoy a strong standard of badminton in a social environment, the Mainland Tournament offers something for everyone. Whether you're chasing results or just enjoying the game, you can expect great matches, excellent sportsmanship, and plenty of opportunities to connect with other players.
Format:
- 2 x Men's singles
- 2 x Women's singles
- 4 Γ Menβs Doubles
- 4 Γ Womenβs Doubles
- 4 Γ Mixed Doubles
Timing: Held annually over a weekend in September
Note: Playing down an age group is permitted (e.g., a 55-year-old may compete in the Masters).
