SCOG was started in 1954 by two ex St Catherines pupils, Joan Patchett and Julie Fergusson, who wanted to carry on playing netball once they finished their College years.
Over many years SCOG was ont of the larger clubs in Wellington with up to 15 teams in some seasons and with teams in Premier 1 and other premier grades. Slowly over the years we have become smaller and lost players to other clubs and therefore lost placings in the premier grades. This hasn't deterrred our current players from playing their netball with SCOG.
SCOG is a now small club, with a big heart. SCOG continues to have players who are ex St Catherine's College pupils but we welcome anyone to come and join us.
SCOG is based at St Catherines College in Upper Bourke St, Kilbirnie where we have access to two netball courts (with lights) and their gym facilities should they be required.
In 2024, SCOG celebrated its "70th Birthday" - we played games against St Catherines College (we they won!!) and then followed this with an afternoon with current and past players and many books of photos from the past 70 years.
