Born and bred on the North Shore, but now calling South Auckland home, Zak has been at Selwyn College since the end of 2022, with several previous roles in school and community sport, including Secondary School, University, RSO and NSOs. Zak was educated at Westlake Boys High School, followed by graduating from AUT with a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation, and Bachelor of Business.
Zak is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of the department, although with such an amazing team it makes his job relatively easy!
Outside of life at Selwyn, Zak is a general sports fanatic who loves watching most sports, and is an avid golfer. He also is an international netball umpire, and can be seen on the television screens officiating ANZ Premiership matches.
Originally from South Africa, Kristen moved to New Zealand with her family in 2011. She has a strong background in tennis, both as a player and a coach, and proudly represented her province in South Africa, competing in numerous regional tournaments. Kristen has also represented Bucklands Beach Tennis Club in local competitions here in New Zealand.
She joined the Selwyn College Sports Department in May 2022 after graduating from AUT with a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation, majoring in Exercise Science and Nutrition. Since joining Selwyn, Kristen has enjoyed being part of a vibrant and supportive sports department, creating and giving students opportunities to participate and achieve their goals through sport.
In her spare time, Kristen enjoys playing tennis, reading a good book, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family and loves spending time at the beach.
Keita has recently joined the team at Selwyn College in 2026 and has spent most of her life living in Auckland. Keita attended St Cuthbert’s College as a student before heading to the University of Otago in Dunedin and graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Majoring in Education and Minoring in Indigenous studies.
Keita has a passion for playing and coaching field hockey and currently represents Roskill Eden Premier Women, Counties Manukau Senior Women at the National Hockey Championship, Tridents Women in The New Zealand Premier Hockey League and The New Zealand Māori Women’s team. One of her highlights of her hockey career was representing New Zealand at the hockey 5’s world cup in Oman in 2024. Before starting at Selwyn College, Keita coached multiple school hockey teams ranging from junior to senior age groups and loves to see hockey grow as a sport.
In her spare time, Keita enjoys watching hockey and other sports, walking, going to the gym and spending time with friends and family. She is really looking forward to life at Selwyn College!
Iain has been at Selwyn College since 2014 and is passionate about getting young people playing all sport, but particularly Ultimate Frisbee. Iain is part-time in the Sports Office and spends the rest of his working life as the Executive Officer of New Zealand Ultimate. Still an Ultimate player - he competes at the Division 1 NZ Mixed Ultimate Championships each year as well as playing local leagues - he is also the coach of the New Zealand Under 20 Women’s Ultimate team.
When not devoting life to the pursuit of a plastic flying disc, Iain is the parent of two children who both attend Selwyn College.
