In his first year as race director of the Tour of Southland Waine navigated several significant challenges, including a weather-enforced postponement and the reorganisation of the longstanding-event for a January date.

Yvonnette has continued her steady progression through increasingly senior officiating roles, including Southland History Inspector of Turns (2015), Judge of Stroke (2017), Starter (2018), World Para Swimming Level 1 (2020), and Referee (2024).

Londyn set a New Zealand Under 16 S9 record in the 50m butterfly at the 2026 South Island Long Course Championships and has competed strongly at regional, national and international level.
SBS Bank Tour of Southland
Despite the challenges presented by a weather-enforced postponement, the Tour of Southland provided a symbol of the province’s resilience, pride and unity, mobilising volunteers and officials from across Murihiku for the rescheduled January race.
Southland Football
Southland Football’s small team continue to provide quality “football for all” opportunities across geographic and demographic communities the breadth of Murihiku. The code works collaboratively with a range of sports, sharing facilities and has completed the massive task of upgrading its premier artificial turf in Invercargill.
The Bunker
The Bunker was established to create a safe, inclusive, and youth-focused space for tamariki and rangatahi in Mataura and the wider community. It provides positive pathways through recreation, sport, mentoring, and whanau opportunities. A key focus is reducing barriers to participation by offering accessible, low-cost or free programmes that promote physical activity, wellbeing, and social connection.
