When the Race Referee signals to any rider, or group of riders by means of a green flag or other device , the riders concerned are to “sit up” and stop racing till that signalling medium is withdrawn. This can occur when when a large bunch forms and the majority are merely "sitting on" and possibly creating a traffic hazard.
In handicap races riders are expected to share the pacemaking with their co-markers. Riders are entitled to hold their position during aggressive tactical sequences but must take their turn at the front when the pace settles down.
If it can be shown that any rider did not fairly contribute towards the “group effort” by either verbally communicating their inability to perform, or consistantly fails, or avoids taking their turn at the front, yet takes out a major placing, on official protest, that placing may be overturned.
Passing Riders should be at least 1 full length clear before taking the same line as any other rider. Instances of dangerous, unnecessarily provocative, or aggressive behaviour while racing, can result in disqualification and/or suspension.
