NOTICE OF RACE

1: Rules

1.1 The event will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2 The YNZ Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply.

2: Changes to Racing Rules

2.1 RRS 29.2. A General Recall will be as described in the Sailing Instructions.

2.2 RRS 35 and A4.1. A boat not finished within 20 minutes after the first boat in its class sails the course and finishes will be scored as Did Not Finish.

2.3 Rule 44. This rule is changed so that the Two Turns Penalty is replaced by a One Turn Penalty.

2.4 Appendix A4.1. A boat starting later than 10 minutes after its starting signal will be scored as Did Not Start.

2.5 Appendix A9 Scoring will apply for this regatta.

2.6 Appendix T, Arbitration, will apply.

3: Eligibility and Entry

3.1 Eligible classes are: Firebug, Optimist, P Class, Starling and Open.(This includes the Bic and any other Class)

3.2 To be eligible to compete in this event, each helmsperson and crew shall, at the time of registration, be a financial member of a yacht club affiliated to YNZ and be aged as follows: Youth - Under 20 years; Junior - Under 16 years.

3.3 Entries may be made at registration by completing an official entry form, and payment of the $20-00 entry fee.

4: Schedule of Events

4.1 Registration: Saturday 9th November From 0900 hours at SGSC.

4.2 Briefing: From 0930 hours at SGSC.

4.3 Racing Schedule:

Saturday 9 November, Race 1, 1025 hours, Tide (1110~2.3)

Races 2 & 3 back to back

Sunday 10 November, Race 4, 1025 hours, Tide (1201~2.3)

" Races 5 & 6 back to back

4.4 No race shall start after 1400 hours on the last day of racing.

4.5 The prize-giving will take place as soon as practicable after the final race.

5: Sailing Instructions

The Sailing Instructions will be available upon receipt of entry with fee.

6: Racing Area

Races will be sailed on the lower reaches of the Waimakariri River, within three kilometres of the club.

7: Courses to be Sailed

7.1 Courses will be set according to the prevailing conditions, and of approximately 60 minutes duration.

7.2 The Race Officer will indicate the courses to be sailed at the briefing.

8: Scoring

8.1 The Low-Points scoring system of Appendix A, including A9, will apply for this regatta. This changes Rule A4.2.

8.2 Two races will be required to be completed to constitute a series.

9: Age Grouping

9.1 There will be an Open and Age Group section in all classes in which there are three or more competitors.

9.2 Proposed age groupings will be at the discretion of the organisers as follows:

Youth - Under 20 years; Under 18 years.

Junior - Under 16 years; Under 14 years; Under 12 years; Under 10 years; Under 8 years.

9.3 Certificates of participation will be awarded to all competitors. (May be mailed later if required .)
