Club Captain
The Club Captain is an important role in terms of supporting and enabling club members to be involved, feel supported and demonstrate the values
Here is a brief of the role:
Role:
- Generating an excellent team spirit at identified priority events (eg. Auckland junior champs, Colgate games)
- Positive role model and ambassador to the club
- Welcoming new members and ask answer any questions about the club
- Gathering feedback in order to represent athletes voice to the committee for all age groups
- Encouraging members to get involved with volunteering with the club
- Able to attend T&F meetings to highlight feedback from athletes or provide insights
- Older member of the children’s or Under-age grade sections
- A recognisable & approachable athlete who participates in inter-club competitions
- Ongoing & high visibility at the club events
- Tuakana- teina model – big brother/ sister
- Undertake group warm up of Grades 5, 6 & 7 (with support from other Elder junior club members & Committee lead)
- Run the Tiny tots events (with support from other Elder junior club members & Committee lead)
Behaviours:
- Motivating presence, in-person, at Wednesday club nights (and maybe training)
- Supporting the committee in developing the club.
- Enthusiastic, approachable and friendly
- Good knowledge of athletics and the club and fairly well known
- Good communicator
- Excellent listening skills
- Engaging - will need to promote/raise awareness of this role to both junior and senior athletes and parents
