WINTER HOCKEY 2024

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Your child has shown an interest in playing hockey for our school this year. It is always great to see students wishing to take part and we are happy to have your child involved. Please discuss this commitment with them as it is a long season starting at the beginning of Term 2 (7th May/ 10th May) and finishing in Term 3 (20th August/ 23rd August). Players will be required to attend a practice each week and be available to warm up before games.

All HB Year 7/8 hockey is 7-aside.

We will have teams playing in the HB competition on Tuesday nights at Park Island, Hastings Unison Hockey Stadium or Waipukurau. We will also have teams playing in the Division 3-5 Competition on Friday nights.

Players need to have a mouth guard, shin pads and preferably have their own hockey stick. We supply team uniform hockey socks and a shirt (with PE shorts) or dress.

We do require assistance with managing, coaching & umpiring games. If parents are unable to help it may limit our number of teams. We would also love reliable, capable secondary school student volunteers. There are umpiring courses available if you’d like to volunteer!

FEES

The cost of playing hockey this year will be $90. This covers HB Hockey Registration, turf fees, and some equipment costs.

All fees are to be paid with your online registration. As sport is considered an extra-curricular activity, TIS has a ‘no pay, no play’ policy before the commencement of the competition.

Should you have a credit balance on your child's school account, and wish to allocate this to payment and registration of this activity,  please phone (06 8447264) Sonja in the school office who will arrange this for you.

TRIALS

All trials will be held at school on Thursday 4th and Thursday 11th of April from 3- 4:30pm. Depending on numbers registered, we will let you know whether we need everyone for both days or not.

CODE OF CONDUCT

As proud parents and New Zealanders we love our sports and are keen for our students to do the best they can. Players and parents of all TIS sports will be asked to agree to our 2024 Sports Code of Conduct. Please read and discuss with your child and your extended family.
