American Football is here in Taranaki — and there’s a place for you at the Kraken.

As a NZAFF-affiliated American Football club based in New Plymouth, Taranaki Kraken is building a strong and inclusive football community for players of all ages and experience levels.

Whether you’ve played American Football before, have experience in another sport, or have never played a contact sport at all, we’d love to have you come along and give it a go.

You could be the next Josh Allen, Cooper Kupp, Breece Hall, T.J. Watt, Jordan Mailata or Brock Bowers — but more importantly, you could become the best version of yourself on and off the field.

🏈 MORE THAN JUST FOOTBALL

The Kraken has continued to grow from our early beginnings in flag football into a club offering opportunities across youth, senior men’s, women’s, masters and flag football.

Our junior programme gives young players the opportunity to learn the game, develop their skills and compete in a fun and supportive environment. Our senior programmes provide opportunities for players who want to compete, develop their football and be part of a team.

We’re proud of the culture we’re building at the Kraken. Our players come from all walks of life, and we believe that is one of the things that makes our club special.

You don't need to be the biggest, fastest or strongest person to play American Football. There is a position and a role for everyone, and our coaches and experienced players will help you learn the game.

One of our biggest priorities is making American Football accessible to as many people as possible.

We don't want membership fees, equipment costs or lack of experience to prevent someone from getting involved.

If you or your family would love to play but are concerned about the cost, talk to us. We are committed to working with individuals and families to find solutions wherever possible.

All you need to do is take the first step.

Our home ground is Vogeltown Park in New Plymouth, and we regularly hold training and development sessions for our different programmes.

New players are always welcome. You don't need to commit to anything just to come along and have a run, meet the team and see what American Football is all about.
