Ngāti Tama ki Te Tauihu
Ngāti Tama ki Te Tauihu, one of the iwi of Te Tauihu o Te Waka-ā-Māui (the top of the South Island), has a rich history and connection to the region. The iwi traces its ancestry to groups of whānau who migrated here in the early 1830’s. Establishing communities across the Nelson and Tasman region to today. Ngāti Tama ki Te Waipounamu Trust, formed in 2013, represents the interests of Ngāti Tama ki Te Tauihu and works to preserve, grow and promote a range of social, environmental, cultural and economic interests.
