Te Ipukarea is an annual sporting tournament that brings together the eight iwi of Te Tauihu for a weekend of friendly yet spirited competition.
Since its inception, Te Ipukarea is an initiative designed to uphold the principles of whanaungatanga, rangatiratanga and manaakitanga.
Hosted by Rangitāne o Wairau in 2026, the event will take place on November 20-21 in Wairau, Blenheim. Participants of all ages, from tamariki to kaumātua, will compete in a variety of sports and activities including basketball, netball, touch rugby, golf, ki-o-rahi, tug of war, euchre and haka ngāhau.
