I have yet to come across similar, if any, published recollections of tenpin bowling history in NZ public domain.
1960 April, the fully automated bowling lanes were demonstrated at the Sydney Easter Show.
Oct 14 Australia first fully automated air-conditioned tenpin bowling centre, 20-lanes Hurstville Bowl, Hudson St, Hurstville, Sydney NSW using AMF pinspotting machines and ball return equipments, made in Australia by AMF Tenpin Bowling (Australia) Pty. Ltd. for Bowling Centres (Holdings) Ltd. Hurstville Bowl 124 Forest Rd, closed in 1987 and was demolished in 1989. The second fully automated bowling centre, Enfield Bowl 546 Liverpool Rd Strathfield South NSW opened in December 1960, then closed in the 80's and later reopened. It still exist till today. Fairfield Bowl 21 Railway Pde, NSW would have been the first if not for the fire that delayed its opening. Fairfield Bowl opened in 1961.
1961 Box Hill Tenpin was the first bowling alley in Melbourne, VIC and is now the longest running in Australia.
1962 Tina Hutchinson and Eric Jang were the winners of the 1st major Australian Tournament - 1962 Brunswick 10000 National All-Stars Singles Championship at Leichhardt Bowl, Sydney. Tina and Eric received a trophy, a trip around the world by Qantas, a thousand pounds, and the right to represent Australia at the World’s Invitational Championships in Chicago that same year.
1963 TBA Hall of Famer Eric Jang (NSW) inaugural Australian National Championship Masters Mens Champion.
TBA Hall of Famer Joe Velo, a right handed bowler, putting his right foot forward and bowling off the right foot was the first person to bowl a 300 game in Australia on 18th March 1963 at Corrimal Bowl in NSW.
1964 Denise Boness (Victoria) inaugural Australian National Championship Masters Ladies Champion
1965 Qubica AMF Bowling World Cup started as the 1st Coca Cola International Masters created by Victor Kalman with the Mens at the 12 lanes, Stilloran Bowl, Dublin, Ireland. Ireland only bowling center. Lauri Ajanto, a dental technician from Helsinki, Finland won this inaugural event. Richard Hall represented Australia.
1969 Coca Cola International Masters becomes AMF Bowling World Cup at Tokyo, Japan

1975 The late Lesley Potter NZ represented Great Britain at the age of 32 in the 1975 11th QubicaAMF World Cup, Astrobowl, Magallanes Commercial Center, Makati, Rizal, Philippines to secure the Ladies Bronze medal. 1976 12th AMF World Cup, Tehran, Iran at the Persopelis Bowling Center, Rafael "Paeng" Nepomuceno a lefty bowler from the Philippines, is the youngest to win the AMF World Cup at 19 years and 292 days.

1982/1983 Jeanette Baker 1st Australian to win the AMF World Cup. She was the 1st to win back to back AMF World Cup at Scheveningen Holland 1982 and Mexico City 1983. To date, no Mens has won back to back in the AMF World Cup history.
Shinobu Saitoh is the 1st Japanese woman to win the US Women's Open, Hendersonville, Tennesse
1983 19th AMF World Cup, Mexico City, Chu Yu-Tien from Chinese Taipei is the 1st "Helicopter" spinner to win the AMF World Cup defeating Michael Chuah of Malaysia
1983/84 First automated bowling centre (10 lanes) in NZ was built in Te Rapa, Super Bowl using Brunswick A's.
Super Bowl Te Rapa did not last long, the lanes moved to Panmure Super Bowl.
May 1984 Manukau bowling centre was built. A few months later, Henderson Superstrike in Waitakere

1985 Hamilton bowling centre built by Hugh Speirs. Also built the centres in Dunedin, Napier and Takapuna. The pinspotter runs on AMF 82-30. The AMF Pinspotters were later replaced with AMF 82-70.
Hamilton bowling centre was bought over by Perry Developments Ltd, stripped and moved to Riverside Lanes, L2 SkyCity Hamilton in 2000. The new centre acquired an AMF Century HVO Summit oiling machine.
1986 The Petone Tenpin Bowling Centre (PTBC) is the first fully automated bowling centre in Wellington. 24 Lanes. Established in 1986 by Kerridge Odeon Corp 12 Western Hutt Rd, Petone. The Ballcrushers (BCL) is the first sanctioned league to start in that year with a four bowlers team format. There were 20 teams bowling off at 6 pm Tuesday. Normal league finished early. A Summer League was held. There was no proper record management initiated for the normal league and some data were lost.
Pacer Pacific Corp took over and named it Madison Bowl.
1986 Sweden won both the Men (Peter Ljung) and Women (Annette Hagre) at the 22nd AMF World Cup at Copenhagen, Denmark. To date, no other countries have achieved this feat.
1987 inaugural New Zealand Tenpin Bowling Travel League (NZTBTL) started in Napier.

1988 Ron Morgan NZ received the Barry James Sportsman Award at the Bowling World Cup in Guadalajara, Mexico. Gabriella Bigai, Venezuela received the Sportswoman Award. Mohammad Khalifa Al-Qubaisi of UAE was the Mens Champion. This is UAE 1st International Champion in any sports.
Sept 18th, Tenpin Bowling was featured in the 1988 XXIV Seoul Summer Olympic Games in South Korea as a demonstration sport at the Seoul Royal Bowling Center. It was a one-day event featuring 12 male and 12 female participants from 21 nations. The Mens winner was Kwon Jong Yul from South Korea and the Ladies winner was Arianna Cerdena from the Philippines. 500 bowling pins were used. Tenpin bowling was featured again as a demonstration sport at the 1996 XXVI Atlanta Summer Olympics Games USA at the Georgia Institute of Technology's student union lanes. During the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympic Games, Brunswick installed a 16-lane bowling alley at the Olympic Village recreation center for athletes to bowl without any charges.

Sept 13 - 16, Malaysia is the 1st Asian country to host the CGS, 16th Commonwealth Games, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is the only time that tenpin bowling was included in CGS. Held at Pyramid Bowl, Sunway Pyramid, KL. 15 countries participated. Australia won Overall Standings. Cara Honeychurch of Australia clean-sweep with Gold in all her events - Ladies Singles, Ladies Doubles with Maxine Nable, Mixed Doubles with Francis Ryan and Ladies Masters. Kenny Ang of Malaysia took Gold in the Mens Singles, Men Doubles with Ben Heng and Mens Masters. Kenny was 4th in Mixed doubles with Lai Kin Ngoh. There is no mixed team event in CGS. NZ was represented by David Davies15, Graham Watson19, Koia Shannon12 and Glennis Rolton14.

April 21st the late Kurt Sturgess bowled his perfect game at Tenpin Tauranga (North Island). On May 19th 1998 he bowled his perfect game at Bowlarama Christchurch (South Island). To date, he is the only bowler to achieve this feat.

He held the Hi Game of the CTBC with 296 in Game 22 during the Team Event with NZ Jason Waters, Belinda Tan and Roz Millet. Jeff finished 10th in the Masters. Jason Belmonte bettered it with a 299 in the Masters' Event Game 32

April 2004, the ABPA invited NZ Bowling Proprietors to join and form as the 9th Zone - New Zealand Zone Australasian Bowling Proprietors Assn (NZZABPA) Fifteen NZ centres have joined the NZ Zone. The other eight Australian Zones are W.A, N.T, S.A, Qld, N.S.W, VIC, A.C.T and TAS.
Bowling leagues in NZ were no longer sanctioned by NZ Tenpin Bowling Congress as NZTBC is defunct (May 13th 2004)

30th June, the inactivated Go Bowling Union Sports Society Incorporated (25th August 2000) changed its name to Tenpin Bowling New Zealand Incorporated. 1062861
04th October, a meeting was held in Hamilton on the governance of TBNZ instigated by Fred Whichelow (CHCH). TBNZ is started by bowlers for the bowlers and managed by passionate unpaid volunteers/bowlers. 11 NZ Zone centres agreed to support TBNZ through the Centre lanes levy. The other 10 centres were Whangaparaoa, Takapuna, Lincoln Rd, Manukau, Tauranga 13th Ave, Rotovegas, Garden City Christchurch, Bowl Line Dunedin, Superbowl Invercargill and Porirua. Panmure also contributed. All these centres received preferred rights to host all TBNZ run Championships.

Dec 1 - 3rd NZ Youth Team Bianca Tofilau, Amanda Kebblewhite, Perry Chan and Paul Olsen participated in the 2nd Commonwealth Youth Games CYG2004 in Bendigo, Australia at the Dragon City Lanes. In the Girls Doubles Bianca (av206.17) & Amanda (av174.67) missed the bronze by 25 pins to Australia. England 1st and Singapore was 2nd. Malaysia Esther Cheah & Zandra Aziela was 5th 44 pins behind NZ. Top 8 in the All Events to play in the Masters. Bianca was 1st Alternate in the Girls. Perry Chan was 2nd Alternate in the Boys

BCL - Carlos Tuason broke Michael Jahn (US Embassy team) record of 10 baggers 280 game, set in 1986. Michael Jahn bowled a strike, 8 spare, and 10 baggers home for 280 in BCL league. Unbroken for 20 years! Carlos Tuason bowled 11 baggers with an 8 pin count in the bonus frame for a 298 game.

Aug 6 - 8 For the first time, the Mens Teams and the Womens Teams will bowl against each other in the 2021 Walter Rachuig Tournament due to COVID-19 border suspension. Queensland fielded a mixed team - 4 male and 1 female. NZ withdrew due to transtasman bubble suspension, hence unable to defend the Combined Title and Mens Title.
Aug 14 Day 1, Ben Pettit who just turned 14 (14yrs and 19 days) is now the youngest to bowl a perfect 300 Game in NZ with a 1480 series at the Waitakere Junior /Youth Cup lane 23/24, 37ft pattern. Osiris Cave also aged 14, bowled the perfect 300 game on Jan 19th 2021. Both of them are 2handed bowlers.

Jessica Marginson also broke the All Events with 2383, broke the Masters with 2057 and National Champion with 4440, Laura Sinclair record set in 2011.
Ben Pettit 715 and Kosei McGrath-Takeji 655 broke the Junior Boys Doubles record set last year by the Australian pairs. Ben also bettered the All Event 2859 and National Champion 4570 he set last year. Ben won the Masters 1711 from Osiric Cave 1708. Both of them bettered the previous record.
For the 1st time a bowler is crowned the TBNZ National Champion in all three levels, Open, Youth & Juniors. Ben also bowled a 300 game G3 Lane 5/6 (2handed back-up) against William Pettit and winning the Youth Masters and Youth National Champion. For the 1st time, two brothers came 1st and 2nd in the Youth Masters respectively.
Ben Pettit was coached by Rob Pollock when he first changed to bowling 2-handed.

July 10 IBF World Youth Championships,Fiesta Bowling Center, Incheon, South Korea, Jessica Marie Marginson NZ, two-handed leftie, bowled the 1st perfect game 300 of the Championships in the Girls Singles, Game 2 on Lane 9-10, hence Jessica is New Zealand 1st Female/Male to bowl an International ABF/ IBF sanctioned 300Game outside of Oceania. July 17 IBF WYC2024, Incheon, Korea, NZ Mixed Team 1 - Ben Pettit, Ryan Julian, Jessica Marginson & Natasha Goggin finished 6th out of 43 teams. The team made the top 16 Matchplay. Ryan Julian converted a 7 - 10 split in the first frame of Game 1 Matchplay against USA1.

Oct 24 - 25 TBA21 National Teams Challenge, Suncity Tenpin, Alexandra Headlands, Qld. Team NZ - Daniel Lee, Seth Taylor, Harrison Irving, Nathan Lindsay, Breanna Sampson, Natasha Goggin, Stacey Lister and Kaitlyn Hoare took the Overall, Boys and Girls Team Champions.
