About our Club
Te Puke Pony Club is based at the Te Puke A&P Association Showgrounds located just outside Te Puke township (the kiwifruit capital of New Zealand!) in the beautiful Bay of Plenty region.
We have quality fenced paddocks and yards, and a good selection of show jumps and games equipment, which are regular features at our rallies and events. We are also fortunate to have the use of the A&P Association grounds and neighbouring farm where our riders can enjoy riding across open farmland, experience the cross country course or even venture around the race track. Our historic club rooms provide an indoor space for our members to study horse management, display their achievements or just catch up over a cup of tea or ice cream.
Our rallies generally comprise a mix of flat work, jumping, games, horse management and other fun team activities. We do also venture off site for specialised training, farm treks, forest rides or getting our hooves wet at our stunning beaches. Every member is invited to participate in our camp each season where we have a lot of fun camping away with our horses. We also host one day events, first start events, show jumping and show hunter events, gymkhanas and ribbon days.
We are a fun and friendly community who believe in Manaakitanga, Kaitiakitanga and Kotahitanga. Our members range from age 6 years to 18 years, lead rein to competitive levels. We encourage and support each and every member to pursue their own goal with their pony, whether to ride competitively and represent our club at competitions, to progress through certificates and coaching qualifications or to improve equestrian skills and gain confidence in a safe and knowledgeable environment - but first and foremost always to have fun riding with our friends.
