REGISTRATIONS FOR 2025 ARE OPEN! YOU NEED TO HEAD OVER TO RUGBY XPLORER TO REGISTER FOR THE SEASON. 

Please read below for how to register for the 2025 season.  All instructions should be here for you to register with the club.​​​​​​​

This season will see a new way to register with the club. We are moving away from Sporty and will be using NZ Rugby's new platform, Rugby Xplorer. Last year, you should have received an email from NZ Rugby to set up a new account on Rugby Xplorer, if you missed it, hit the link below to sign up.

This new platform for rugby in NZ is a smart way to connect with your rugby community, giving you access to new features that have been created for you. This profile must be set up before you can register for the 2025 season.

Like all new things, there will be teething issues - please bear with us as we are all new to this platform.

Please follow this link to set up an account for yourself and link your child to your account.  You will find a how-to video here.  Rugby Xplorer is a new system for us this year so there may be a few teething issues.  For information on how to link accounts, head over to here and here to watch a video.  Once you have set up your account :

  1. Search for Tauranga Sports Junior Rugby, select 

  2. Select Player as the Role, Junior-Contact as the registration type and season

  3. This should then give you a "Registrations are open" notification

  4. You should then be able to complete the registration

Junior Rugby Grades

All children (boys and girls) are graded into teams based on their age.

U6-U7: 10 aside rippa rugby with rugby boots or sport shoes played on half field

U8-U10: 10 aside tackle rugby with boots played on half field

U11: Full tackle, 3/4 field, 12 aside rugby, non-competition. The reasoning behind the change in this grade can be found here

U12-U13: Competition grades - Full tackle, full field and 15 aside rugby. 


Playing Times and Locations 

U6-U7: Teams play on Saturday mornings from 8.30am to 12.00pm (times to be confirmed) at Arataki, on a half field. 

U8-U10: Games are played at Blake Park from 8.30am to 12.00pm throughout the season.

U11-13: Games are played at the Domain or away throughout the season.

Please refrain from contacting the committee and requesting teams or friends that you wish your child to play with.  The committee, when putting teams together, try to ensure continuity from year to year for existing players and for new children to the club, putting them with someone from the same school.  Please appreciate putting over 20 teams together is a massive exercise and we do our best to ensure this is done as fair as possible.
