About the Role
This is a diverse and rewarding role responsible for the growth and delivery of indoor and beach volleyball opportunities across the region. The position focuses on increasing participation, delivering competitions and events, supporting representative programmes, and developing coaches, referees and volunteers.
While most activities are based in Hawke's Bay, the role also supports volleyball development in Poverty Bay, including regular engagement with the Gisborne volleyball community.
Key Responsibilities
Competition and Event Management
•Coordinate and deliver indoor and beach volleyball competitions and tournaments.
•Prepare draws, schedules and competition formats.
•Manage competition information using Sporty and other systems.
•Organise venues, equipment and operational requirements.
•Coordinate sanctioning requirements with Sport Hawke's Bay and Volleyball New Zealand.
Representative Programme Delivery
•Coordinate representative trials and team logistics.
•Support coaches, managers and team personnel.
•Assist with tournament planning and team administration.
Coach, Referee and Volunteer Development
•Deliver and promote coach and referee development opportunities.
•Maintain databases and records for coaches and officials.
•Support mentoring and education pathways.
•Provide leadership and support to volunteers and casual staff.
Participation and Community Development
•Build strong relationships with schools, clubs and community organisations.
•Deliver development programmes and participation opportunities.
•Support volleyball growth throughout Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay.
•Work collaboratively with local volunteers and stakeholders to strengthen pathways.
Communication and Promotion
•Create promotional material and event information.
•Contribute content and photos for social media, newsletters and the website.
•Maintain regular communication with participants, schools and clubs.
About You
The successful applicant will ideally have:
•Experience in sport administration, coaching, recreation or education.
•Strong organisational and time management skills.
•Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
•Experience coordinating competitions, tournaments or events.
•Confidence using Microsoft Office and online systems.
•Experience creating promotional material using Canva or similar platforms (desirable).
•An understanding of volunteer environments and community sport.
•Knowledge of volleyball, including indoor and beach formats, would be an advantage.
Most importantly, you will be proactive, adaptable, passionate about community sport and committed to creating positive experiences for participants of all ages.
Special Requirements
•Current Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
•Ability to work evenings and weekends when required.
•Willingness to travel throughout Hawke's Bay and Poverty Bay, including occasional visits to Gisborne.
•Satisfactory Police Vetting.
