The safety of everyone on the Pony Club grounds is paramount & particularly for our riders.
- We follow the NZPCA health and safety guidelines.
- Please read and take note of any Health and Safety signs.
- Riding alone is strongly discouraged.
- DO NOT ride in the racetrack area or through the Domain/camping ground.
- Pony Club approved helmets must be worn all times when mounted. There are no exceptions.
- Back-protector vests are compulsory when jumping in the XC areas. There are no exceptions.
- A red ribbon tied to a pony’s tail signifies that “this pony may kick so please don’t crowd me.” Please respect this request and use one yourself if necessary.
- Sturdy footwear should be worn when working around horses as well as when riding.
- Mostly safety is common sense but if you see something that you feel could turn into a bad situation please don’t be afraid to say something. Conversely, if you are the person spoken to please don’t take offence, it may just save a rider or pony from injury. But please always approach these situations in a polite and considered way.
