Welcome to the Waipawa Bowling Club website. We are delighted you have found us and hope the information here gives you a sense of who we are and what makes our club special. Whether you are looking to join a club, try bowls for the first time, or simply visit, we would love to welcome you.
Waipawa Bowling Club (WBC) was established in 1903 and has been an important part of the local community ever since. While we are not a large club, this allows us to offer something truly special, a friendly, inclusive environment where everyone quickly gets to know one another. Before long, you’ll feel like part of the family. We proudly consider ourselves one of the friendliest bowling clubs in the Hawke’s Bay area.
Our club has a professional carpet green and a cosy, welcoming clubhouse, providing a comfortable setting for year-round bowling and socialising. We cater for players of all ages and abilities, from complete beginners and social players to those who enjoy competitive bowling. No prior experience is needed, and we are always happy to support new players as they learn the game.
Each bowling season begins with the release of our Club Handbook, which outlines useful information including basic rules, duties, and bowling courtesies. Throughout the year, we also keep members and visitors informed through our Club Newsletters, which can be viewed on the Newsletters page of this website.
We offer regular opportunities to play and develop your skills:
Roll-ups are held every Thursday and Sunday, providing a relaxed and social way to enjoy bowls.
Coaching sessions take place on Tuesdays, ideal for beginners or anyone wanting to improve their technique and confidence.
