Representative Programme (U12, U14 & U16)
Our Wānaka Representative Programme provides players with the opportunity to further develop their Touch skills while representing Wānaka at tournaments throughout Otago, Southland and beyond. The age groups throughout Otago and Southland are referred to as U12, U14 and U16, rather than by school year group.
Representative Touch is a fantastic opportunity for players to challenge themselves, make new friends, and compete against other representative teams in a fun, supportive and positive environment.
Who can trial?
Representative trials are open to any players eligible for the following age groups:
Representative Trial Dates
Monday 19th October and Friday 23rd October
3.30pm – 5.30pm
Wānaka Rugby Grounds
How to Register
Players wishing to be considered for a Wānaka Representative Team must complete the Representative Trial Registration Form.
Players are required to attend at least one trial, however attendance at both sessions is strongly encouraged.
If your child is unable to attend either trial, please complete the Representative Trial Dispensation Form so they can still be considered for selection.
Tournament Programme
At this stage, the proposed tournament schedule is:
- 1st November Queenstown
- 15th November Invercargill (replaces the Winton tournament)
- 28th November Oamaru
- 19th – 20th December Te Waipounamu, Chch (anticipated U16 and referees only)
Commitment
Players selected into a representative team should be available to attend at least three of the four tournaments.
The estimated cost of the programme is approximately $100–$200 per player for the season.
Why play Representative Touch?
Representative Touch is about more than just competing. It provides players with opportunities to develop their skills, build confidence, create lasting friendships and proudly represent Wānaka against teams from across the South Island.
