*NEW* Two Seasons for 2026/27

One of the big changes this summer is the introduction of two separate Touch seasons—one before Christmas and one after.  Please note this does not apply to Yrs 3 and 4 who will play before Christmas only.

This new format provides greater flexibility for players and teams, while also making it easier for us to manage draws and grading throughout the summer.

Why the change?

The feedback we have recevied is that kids want to play more touch!  If we continue after Christmas then it may be that many teams or individuals are unable to continue due to holidays, summer sports and changing commitments. This may results in teams withdrawing part-way through the competition, making it difficult to maintain balanced draws.

By splitting the competition into two seasons, teams or individuals can choose to play:

• Season 1 only
• Season 2 only
• Or both seasons

This creates greater flexibility for everyone while ensuring each season starts with a fresh draw and balanced competition.

Note – The Module Trials in October determine teams for season 1 only.  Season 2 teams will be put together dependent on numbers registered.

Season Dates

• Season 1 – Monday 2 November – Monday 21^st December (8 weeks)

By splitting the competition into two seasons, families and teams can choose to pay and register for Season 1, Season 2 or both seasons.

Season 1 is 8 weeks long, while Season 2 is 7 weeks, so each season is priced accordingly.

We believe this new format will create a more flexible, enjoyable and sustainable competition for everyone, while allowing even more players to be part of Wānaka Touch.
