*NEW* Two Seasons for 2026/27
One of the biggest changes this summer for the Adult module is the introduction of two separate Touch seasons—one before Christmas and one after.
This new format provides greater flexibility for players and teams, while also making it easier for us to manage draws and grading throughout the summer.
Why the change?
Over recent seasons we've found that many teams are unable to continue after Christmas due to holidays, summer sports and changing commitments. This often results in teams withdrawing part-way through the competition, making it difficult to maintain balanced draws.
By splitting the competition into two seasons, teams can choose to play:
- Season 1 only
- Season 2 only
- Or both seasons
This creates greater flexibility for everyone while ensuring each season starts with a fresh draw and balanced competition.
Note – The trials in October determine teams for season 1 only. Season 2 teams will be put together dependent on numbers registered.
Season Dates
- Season 1 – Monday 2nd November – Monday 21st December (8 weeks)
- Season 2 – Monday 18th January - Monday 1st March 2027 (7 weeks)
Season 1 is 8 weeks long, while Season 2 is 7 weeks, so each season is priced accordingly.
We believe this new format will create a more flexible, enjoyable and sustainable competition for everyone, while allowing even more players to be part of Wānaka Touch.
Note – ALL Teams will need to re-register for Season 2. More information will be sent about this closer to the time.
*NEW* Senior Module Grading Evening
To help create balanced and competitive grades, all registered Men's and Mixed teams (and Women's teams, depending on entry numbers) are expected to attend our Senior Grading Evening on Friday 30th October 2026. This season, we are holding the Grading before the season starts, so that way we can kick straight into round robin games. Game times will be confirmed once registrations are in. Teams will play a number of short grading games, allowing us to place teams into the most appropriate grade for Season 1.
At the conclusion of Season 1, teams may move up or down grades for Season 2, depending on results.
Year 9 + MAC Teams
If you are in Yr 9 + at MAC then you are able to trial for various teams who will then play in the Monday night module.
Simply complete this form and then attend trials on:
- Tuesday 8th September @ 4pm at the MAC School Grounds
- Thursday 10th September @ 4pm at the MAC School Grounds
From here, teams will be formed and you will be entered into the Monday night module. Your team will also need to attend the Grading night on Friday October 30th.
