BIZminton4 – Final Night


‘Late Comers’ took the honours and won the prestigious log of wood on the final night of the BIZminton3 Competition held at the Badminton Centre. In their last night tie of the competition, they were defeated 6 love by ‘Te Hapara Excellers’. The competition was held over 5 weeks, involving 13 teams from local firms, schools, volunteer and sports groups and friends’. Shanan Gray on receiving the trophy for the second time this year thanked the organisers and hope another BIZminton would be run in the summer.


The Plate competition was won by WPS Opus and runner-ups Starship Enterprise. On receiving the runner-up's certificate Mike Rice thanked the organisers and competitors for a wonderful run tournament on behalf of the two teams from Enterprise.


During the evening Spot Prizes were from the donated prizes from the teams and the evening concluded with supper.


As quoted by another participant when she went home “Tonight we wound up the latest round of BIZminton and our team was mean! We started off as ‘No Idea’ but definitely finished with ’Some Idea’! We didn’t quite conquer the tournament but made small gains! We have all the heart and potential so watch out next round we’re coming for the trophy ‘Late Comers’

The fourth night of competition of the BIZminton4 league played last Wednesday at the Badminton Centre, ties were not as close as the previous but the noise got louder as rallies got longer. Competition continues to be fierce with final ties next week.

Close ties were a common theme on the third night of competition of the BIZminton4 league played last Wednesday at the Badminton Centre.

In the tie between Starship Enterprise 1 and WPS Opus the final score; Starship Enterprise 1 won 5 matches to 1 but in all matches, the scores were only separated by 1 to 3 points. Competition continues to be fierce with only this week and next to go.

BIZminton4 – Results 


Enthusiasm and hilarity marked the first week of BIZminton4 league played last Wednesday at the Badminton Centre. Two new teams joined the competition with a few players not playing badminton before all added to the fun of the night. A couple of ‘forward rolls’ were observed. Now that players have learnt the rules, how to serve, I believe some teams are now practising!!!!

BIZminton3 Final Results

‘Late Comers’ took the honours by defeating ‘Ngati Rangi’ and won the prestigious log of wood on the final night of the BIZminton3 Compeition held at the Badminton Centre. The competition was held over 5 weeks , involving 14 teams from local firms, schools, volunteer and sport  groups, work skills programmes and friends’. Shanan Gray  on receiving the trophy noted that he started playing in the Mercantile League at least 6 years ago and always wanted to receive the trophy - 2018 is the year!!!!. He thanked the organisers Linda White and the Perano family for a wonderful run tournament.

Badminton Eastland are delighted with the competition and will be running BIZminton4 starting Wednesday 1st August for 5 weeks.
