Netball - General Information

The junior netball competition in the south and east of Wellington is run by Motu Kairangi Netball. Details of the competition, including the draw and results, can be found on their website (see link on the left). Note: boys and girls play in the same competition.

COMPETITION TIME

Saturday mornings in Terms 2 and 3. There is no play on Queens Birthday or Matariki weekend.

Higher teams play earlier in the morning ie 9am, with all teams generally finished by midday.

CANCELLATION

Decisions on whether games are going ahead on a Saturday are usually made at 8am on Saturday morning and posted onto the Motu Kairangi Facebook page (which you can find on the Motu Kairangi website homepage - see link on the left).

TRAINING TIME

One training per week at a time to be agreed with the team and coach - usually after school. (The top year 8 team may have two trainings per week.)

LOCATION OF GAMES

EBIS netball courts. (The top year 8 team may move to Hataitai courts in Term 3 to compete in the inter-satellite competion.)

CODE OF CONDUCT

Players, coaches, managers and team supporters are required to abide by the Motu Kairangi code of conduct (see document on the right).

PARENT/GUARDIAN SUPPORT

Each team will require a coach and a manager (see description of roles on the right). A course for new and previous coaches will be held on Sunday 11 April 1:00-3:30pm at SWIS. There is no charge to attend this course.

Each team is required to supply a qualified umpire or to arrange an umpire at their cost (c$10 per week). For those wanting to become qualified, umpiring courses are made available by Motu Kairangi - details will be provided. There is no charge to attend these courses.

EBIS will be allocated duty two or three times during the season. This requires several adults to help with running the competition on the day.

COST
Fees were $60 per player  in 2021 but likely to be a little higher in 2022 (payable via Kindo)

If the netball fee is a problem, please contact the school and we'll find a way to help. For example, payments can be spread over the school year.
