Open to new and exisiting coaches and managers who would like to take part in an informative and practical evening which covers the basic philosophy of futureFERNS and fundamental netball skills. This workshop will provide the necessary tools to support coaches and managers for game day and trainings.
The following course content will be covered across all grades by Netball Centre Coach Developers - Tania Stokes and facilitators Zavannah Aitken & Brenda Boxall.
- Learn how to teach your players skills and games to maximise their participation using the ADAPT model.
- Understand how to incorporate the Bringing Player to Centre Life approach into your coaching
- Session planning and review
- Accessing Future Fern Coaching Resources on Sporty
- NetballSmart Dynamic Warm Up Resource
- How to deal with poor behaviour from sideline spectators and parents
All coaches and managers will then split off into their age grades and be assisted by their Junior Coordinator to cover the following:
- Game rules and format / changes specific to their grade
- Cover any rule changes from the 2024 World Netball Rule applicable to your grade
- Understand the Coach Lead and Coach with a Whistle on court requirements for Year 1-4
- Game day management for Manager - eg control room / registration cards / score cards
- Code of Conduct Rules
- Team umpiring requirements and rules for the season (Year 5-8 only)
- Coaching Meeting requirements on Saturdays (Year 1-4 only)
Year 3 - 6 Coaches and Managers will then run through a game to understand positional play of the 6 v 6 game format.
Finish with questions and feedback.

This is a practical workshop so please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
All attendees will receive a coaching resource which includes activities for Game Day and practice sessions.
