Open to all club members, nominated by any associate of the club.

Nominations considered and recipient voted by sub-committee.

Clarke Cup for Service and Sportsmanship

The Clarke Cup is awarded to the person who has contributed to the club over a period of time in many of the following ways:   administration, coaching, umpiring, volunteering for duties (e.g. helping with SNC shop/office), fundraising, attending meetings on behalf of the club, attending seminars.   Use of the booklet “History of People Filling Club and Executive Positions” may assist with possible nominations.

Rolleston New World Cup for Contribution and Sportsmanship

Consideration is awarded to the person who:

  1. Is a younger member of the RNC

  2. May not necessarily be a committee member, but is a role model for other players because they have volunteered to serve the club in other ways beyond just playing.

  3. Has contributed to the club in a positive manner over the present season (or several seasons) by umpiring, supporting, playing, and/or volunteering for extra club duties.

  4. Is a positive role model.

  5. Shows excellent sportsmanship.

  6. Shows leadership potential.

Timutimu Memorial Taonga for Club Personality

The Timutimu Memorial Taonga for Club Personality is awarded to a club member or supporter who has most/all of the following attributes:

  1. is well-known to other club members.

  2. has an “above & beyond” level of commitment to the club.

  3. is loyal to the club and passionate about the club.

  4. encourages members (players, coaches, umpires) in a positive way to reach their potential.

  5. has the ability to bring out the best in other club members or supporters.

  6. has a sense of humour and fun.

Brown Family Dedication Award

The Brown Family Dedication Award is presented to give thanks to a family who has demonstrated outstanding service, loyalty, dedication and commitment to the RNC over a number of seasons. The Award recipient is chosen by the family who received it in the year prior although nominations can be made from other club members which the family may consider.  A “family” must have two or more members who are directly involved with the RNC.  It can include, but must not be limited to, just playing for RNC.

NB: Nominations for this award are considered and recipient chosen by the family who received the award in the previous year.

Player of the Year – 5 categories

Mortlock Family Senior Player of the Year Cup + lid 

RNC Secondary Player of the Year Cup + lid (Y9 – Y13 Player only)

RNC Cup for Y9 Secondary Player of the Year (Year 9 player only)

Wood Family Primary Player of the Year Cup (Primary Player from highest ranked primary team, normally named PA)

Beryl Wilson Trophy for Junior Primary Player of the Year (Y5 or Y6 player only)

The Player of the Year Trophy is awarded to the player who:

  1. Is the most skilled and outstanding netballer in each category/age group.  

  2. May have been selected in a representative team in the present season.

  3. Displays most of the following attributes at BOTH games AND practices:  encourages fair play, is the team captain or shows positive leadership, has a positive attitude to practices and Saturday games, has good attendance at trainings, is punctual to training and games, has improved personal skills, is a good team player, is committed, has good on-court rapport with team members, is able to take direction from the coach and apply these to their game, has a positive on-court attitude, is a positive role model.

  4. Has possibly contributed in other areas of the RNC (umpiring, coaching, other duties).


Mike Tobin Memorial Cup for Senior Coach of the Year

The Mike Tobin Memorial Cup is awarded to a coach of a senior team who:

  1. Has attended courses appropriate to their coaching skills and level when they were offered.

  2. Has contributed to other coaching sessions, or assisted other RNC coaches.

  3. Has shown personal improvement in their coaching level.

  4. Has displayed outstanding skills in many of the following: developing players, improving players, achieving placing at SNC finals, is able to bring out the best in the team, has the respect of players and their parents, is well-informed, is reliable, is organized.

RNC Cup for Primary Coach of the Year

The Primary Coach of the Year Cup is awarded to a coach of a primary team who:

1. Has attended courses appropriate to their coaching skills and level when they were offered.

2. Is motivated to go further.

3. Has shown improvement in their coaching level.

4. Has a good relationship with their team, is reliable, has been able to bring out the best in the team, encourages their players, is reliable, is organized.

Certificate for Contribution to Coaching

These are available, if needed, to recognize  other coaches who may be “just below” the criteria as set out above for the Coaching Cups.

Kempton-Bailey-Walsh Cup for Senior Manager of the Year & RNC Cup for Primary Manager of the Year

These cups are awarded to a manager of a RNC team who:

  1. Has supported the team coach.

  2. Has committed to attending most (all) practices and/or games.

  3. Has helped the coach coordinating players and ensuring that the players welfare and well being is being maintained.

  4. Has displayed outstanding skills in many of the following: supporting players welfare, helped issue/collect uniform/gear/subs/fundraising money etc.  Made themselves available as a point of contact for their team, managed the team web page, has the respect of players and their parents, is well-informed, is reliable, is organized.

Umpire of the Year – 5 catergories:

Davidson Cup for Official of the Year

RNC Cup for the Senior Umpire of the Year

RN Golden Oldies Cup for Intermediate Umjpire of the Year - Level 2

RNC Cup for the Intermediate Umpire of the Year - Level 1

Karen Donaldson Memorial Cup for the Junior Umpire of the Year

Junior Umpire Programme – Certificates are issued by SNC for Bronze, Silver and Gold.

The  Umpire of the Year Cup  is awarded to the umpire who has umpired most Saturdays and has made SIGNIFICANT improvement during the season.  

Improvement can be identified through the following:

  Achieving a higher qualification/award

Is umpiring at a higher grade on the draw then when they first started the season.

Works well with her umpire coach, is motivated and keen to improve.

Senior – Centre and above, named umpire

Intermediate – Level Two, named umpire

Intermediate - Level One, named umpire

Junior – Gold Certificate and/or umpriring on the Y7/8 draw

The Official of the Year is awarded to an official who has reached an outstanding level of achievement in umpiring/official duties or who has given outstanding service specifically to umpiring/offical duties.

Certificate for Contribution to Umpiring

These are available, if needed, to recognize extra umpiring efforts of umpires who may be “just below” the criteria as set out above for the Umpiring Cups

Rolleston Volunteer Fire Brigade Fair Play Trophy – Senior and Junior

The Fair Play Trophy is awarded to the player who plays within the rules, repects the umpires, the opposition and the supporters, is a gracious winner and a dignified loser, plays hard but fair, enjoys the game, has a positive but determined attitude towards winning, is a great role model.

The Junior Fair Play Trophy is awarded to a primary player.

The Senior Fair Play Trophy is awarded to a senior or social player.

Joyce Wilson Cup for Meritorious Achievement

The Joyce Wilson Cup is awarded to a player who:  

  1. has overcome a special need,

  2. or who has played admirably under any circumstances,

  3. or who has displayed commendable achievement because they have played with physical restriction.
