Code of Conduct for Coaches and Managers

As representatives of Southland Water Polo Club, coaches and managers play acrucial role in fostering a positive and inclusive environment for our athletes. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations and standards for behaviour to ensure the well-being of all participants and maintain the integrity of our club.

1. Professionalism

1.1 Role Modelling: Coaches and managers must uphold the highest standards of sportsmanship, integrity, and ethical conduct. Set a positive example for athletes through your actions and behaviour.

1.2 Communication: Maintain open and respectful communication with athletes,parents, fellow coaches, and club officials. Address concerns and feedback in a timely and constructive manner.

2. Player Welfare

2.1 Safety: Prioritise the well-being and safety of athletes. Follow all safety guidelines and protocols established by the club. Report any concerns related to athlete safety promptly.

2.2 Fair Play: Encourage fair play, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for all athletes,regardless of skill level or background. Foster a supportive and positive team culture.

3. Professional Development

3.1 Continuous Learning: Stay informed about the latest coaching techniques, rules,and best practices. Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance coaching skills and knowledge.

4. Respect

4.1 Respect for All: Treat all athletes, parents, officials, and fellow coaches with respect and dignity. Avoid negative comments, derogatory language, or gestures towards anyone involved in the game.

4.2 Opponents and Officials: Display sportsmanship and respect towards opponents and officials. Accept decisions gracefully and avoid confrontations.

5. Confidentiality

5.1 Privacy: Respect the confidentiality of sensitive information related to athletes,parents, and the club. Do not disclose private information without proper authorisation.

5.2 Media Relations: Coordinate with the club's media representative before engaging on social media on matters related to the club or its athletes.

6. Compliance

6.1 Code Adherence: Coaches and managers are expected to adhere to this Codeof Conduct and any additional policies set forth by Southland Water Polo Club.

Regulatory Compliance: Follow all relevant laws and regulations governing sports coaching and management.

7. Reporting

7.1 Incident Reporting: Report any violations of this Code of Conduct, ethical concerns, or potential misconduct to the club's designated officials promptly.

By abiding by this Code of Conduct, coaches and managers contribute to the positive development of our athletes and the overall success of Southland WaterPolo Club.


Acknowledgment:

I acknowledge that complaints against coaches and managers will be dealt with by the Southland Water Polo Club Conduct Sub-committee. I understand that I may be asked to meet with the Conduct Sub-committee to discussany complaints made against me.

Penalties may include:

1. A verbal or written warning

2. Request for a written apology and a set probation period

3. Suspension from one or more games or competitions

4. Return from competitions at your expense

5. Suspension from the squad or club for the season

6. Permanent suspension
