Takapuna Athletics

Grades 3 - 6 Club Night Programme

Membership grades are based on age as of 31 December 2023.

The focus of our Takapuna Athletics Grades 3 - 6 offering is on acquiring and developing correct fundamental athletic skills -

running , jumping and throwing.

The programme events and activities aim to build locomotive, stability and manipulative movement skills.

Our goal is to ensure our Grades 3 - 6 learn through fun play.

Our Grades 3 - 6 programme offers each child two sprint track events (60m and 100m) and a modifed jump and throw each club night.

Role of Takapuna Athletics Club Leaders

Takapuna Athletics Grades 5 & 6 club night programme is overseen by a small group of our Grade 14 and/or other Club Leaders who ensure that the events and activities are set up and run to time, and together with parent/guardian/support assistance, ensure that the actvities run smoothly and all equipment is returned to the equipment room ready for next week.

Role of Parents/Guardians/Supporters

Takapuna Athletics Grades 3 - 6 club night programme is designed to enable any parent/guardian/supporter (skilled or not) to assist with delivery of the games and relay activities and event transitions, to ensure the children are engaged and learn the skills the programme offers.

There are no club coaches supervising the Grades 3 - 6 programme, therefore the responsibility to support the grade groups each club night falls on the parents/guardians/supporters within the group.

We encourage all parents/guardians/supporters to work together to support the smooth running of the club night programme.

Respectively, if you are not prepared to roll up your sleeves and help out (with equipment and course set up, event transitions and delivery support, and pack down), we advise against registering your child(ren).

All parents/guardians/supporters need to familiarise themselves and adhere to the club's Code of Conduct.
