Parent / Guardian Involvement and Responsibility

The active involvement from our athlete families in the running of Wednesday club nights is critical to the safety, success and efficient running of the programme.

There are a number of different roles that need to be filled each club night.

Activities may include marshalling, grade management, measuring and recording results, some basic skills coaching and putting out/packing away equipment.

Where a club member is under 15 years of age, a parent or guardian is expected to help as required on a rotational basis with other parents.

For the 2021-22 season we are seeking to appoint Grade (Age) Convenors (i.e. club night and competition grade coordinators) for each grade - one for female athletes and one for male athletes.

Prior experience is not necessary so please come forward and offer your assistance to the club night Announcer.

Full training will be provided by Club Committee members.

Your active involvement and support is greatly appreciated by the Club Committee and all club members.

Environmental Friendly

Club nights are a rubbish free event, please look after our precious place and do not drop litter.

Club Spirit

The spirit of good sportsmanship is an important part of our sport and our club - look out for and encourage eachother ... compete hard and fair.

Once you have finished your event, please support and encourage those who are still competing.

Thank a volunteer. Without their help we couldn't put on our club nights, so please take the time to say thanks.

Points Competition and Seeding
A points competition is held throughout the season to determine the best all-round athletes and most regular attendees at club night in all grades.

Points are awarded for the first four places in each track and field events

1st place = 5 points

2nd place = 3 points

3rd place = 2 points

4th place = 1 point

Points competition commences from 1st Nov 2023.

No points awarded on Special Programme club nights.

Track events athletes are seeded into heats determined by performances in the respective events on previous club nights.

The top-seeded heat comprises the fastest four plus the winners of slower heats and place-getters depending on numbers required.

Points for placing 1st to 4th in track events are awarded to the fastest four finishers from all grade heats combined.

A seeding system offers the faster athletes the benefit of stronger competition and allows others to compete with success at their own level.
