2018 United CT Bowls Tournament
Two teams from Tauranga played at this Tournament with the team consisting of Peter Jones, Bob Tree and Keith Griffiths finishing fourth, and the team consisting of Barrie Owen, Chris Neilson and Denise Neilson finishing sixth. Palmerston North fielded two teams (finishing first and second), Rotorua fielded two teams (finishing third and fifth) and Auckland fielded one team (finishing seventh).
This was the first tournament that Auckland has attended for a large number of years, and conspicuous by their absence was Southland who are normally at these tournaments. The tournament was shifted from the normal first weekend in March to the second weekend to suit Hamilton, who then didn’t bother to turn up.
At the delegate’s meeting it was resolved that Palmerston North will host the 2019 tournament and Auckland will host the 2020 tournament. There were no changes to the conditions of play, in that the tournament will continue to be three bowl triples.
