Tauranga CT Club BOWLS

Qualifying for National Tournaments

To ensure that everyone is aware of the requirements to qualify for the National Tournament in any year, we have outlined below the qualifying standards and the details.

In order to qualify for selection to represent the Club at the Nationals a member must:

1)   be a financial member of the Commerce Club Tauranga;

2)   support any scheduled qualifying rounds and/or practices;

3)   the Board of the Commerce Club have resolved that any members representing the Club at National level must have been seen to be supporting the Club by:

-      attending a minimum of 10 Thursday Club nights during the year or

-      earning 150 PV reward points in the current year (these points are collected by attending the Club, helping with raffles, playing in qualifying rounds, etc).

The Board has also recognised the increased costs of attending the national tournaments, and they have generously agreed to subsidise a portion of the entry fees for North Island tournaments and a larger subsidy for South Island tournaments (to assist with travel costs as well).  The subsidies are for a maximum of 12 players.

After taking these subsidies into account, qualifying members will be subsidised by the adjunct as follows:

Member for 30+ years: 90% of remaining costs

Member for 5 to 29 years: 60% of remaining costs

Member 0 to 4 years: 30% of remaining costs.

The names of the qualifying members will need to be supplied to the Board for checking against Club records before funds can be allocated.
