Registrations are now open!

• Mapua & Districts Netball Club (MDNC) requires ALL our players and coaches to complete an online registration by Wednesday 25th March 2026.
• Registrations: can be done by clicking on the form on the right-hand side. This form can be used by all players and coaches. This form includes information that is required to be collected by both our club and Nelson Netball.
• Late registrations: cannot be accepted. 
• Teams: will be finalised once registrations close, and coaches will then communicate with their teams. When finalising teams, our priority is always to ensure team numbers are as even as possible.
• Training: will begin in week 1 of term 2.
• Club fees We endeavour to keep the fees as low as possible by running two easy fundraisers during the netball season. These are a quiz night at Mapua Sprig & Fern and a sausage sizzle & bake stall @ Saxton Field. Further communications will be shared during the season. We do need your support for these fundraisers to keep fees low and to upgrade equipment and update uniforms when required.

 Information for each of the FutureFERNS groups

While we try to provide details about training days and times, it is very difficult to finalise them until registrations are complete and we know how many players we have in each age group. We may need to seek additional coaching support, and training times may need to be adjusted from time to time to accommodate our coaches’ other commitments.

 Future Ferns: Year 0 - 2

Description:      Introduces Netball to 5–6 year olds with the aim to develop fundamental movement and basic Netball                                    skills.

Games:             Tuesday 5th May - Tuesday 16^th June (seven sessions) - this includes skills and a game (no additional days)

Times:               3:45pm – 4:45pm

Venue:               Saxton Netball Stadium (inside)

Coaches:           Parents & year 8 netball players from Mapua School

Fees:                  $25

Uniform:            None. Comfortable sports wear

Future Ferns: Year 3 & 4

Description:     Play is on two-thirds of a netball court.

                           Five players per side, rotating positions to ensure everyone gets an equal chance to develop their skills. 

                           The focus for this age group is learning basic skills. It is designed to be fast and fun, maximising                                             participation.

Games:             Tuesday 5th May – Tuesday 30th June (festival day) (nine games incl festival)

Times:               3:45pm – 4:45pm

Venue:              Saxton Netball Courts (outside)

Training:          TBC

Coaches:         Vanessa McGovern & year 8 netball players from Mapua School

Fees:                $35 (registration and uniform fee)

Uniform:          Club t-shirt provided. To be returned via coaches at end of the season. Supply your own black shorts /                                    leggings or skorts.

Future Ferns: Year 5 & 6

Description:     Play is on the full-size netball court.

                           Six players per side (2 x attack, 2 x centre, 2 x defence).

                           Players rotate to prevent early specialisation in positions.

                           Emphasis is on all players getting plenty of touches of the ball and the opportunity to develop a broad skill                             set.

Games:             Saturday 2nd May – Saturday 1st August (festival day) (11 games incl festival)

No games:       30th May, 11th July & 18th July

Times:               9am or 10:15am

Venue:               Saxton Netball Courts (outside)

Training:           Year 5: Mondays @ 3:30pm

                           Year 6: Mondays @ 3:00pm

Coaches:           Year 5:  Sophie Rush

                            Year 6: Tracy O'Connell

Fees:                  $75 (registration and uniform fee)

Uniform:            Provided for the season. To be returned via coaches at the end of the season. 

Future Ferns: Year 7 & 8

Description:      Play is on the full-size netball court. Seven players per side (GK, GD, WD, C, WA, GA, GS). Players must                                      rotate through all positions and cannot specialise. Grading based on ability.

Games:             Saturday 2nd May – Saturday 8th August (12 games). 

No games:       30th May, 11th July & 18th July

Times:               Games are between 11am – 2pm

Venue:               Saxton Netball Courts (outside)

Training:           Year 7: Mondays @ 3:15pm

                           Year 8: Wednesdays @ 3:15pm & 3:45pm (two teams)

Coaches:          Year 7: Mackenzie Taikato, Sarah van Lent and Brooke Mundy

                           Year 8: Kate May and Catherine Ussher

Fees:                 $85 (registration and uniform fee)

Uniform:           Provided for season. To be returned via coaches at the end of the season.
