First Kicks

First Kicks (4-7) and Fun Football (8-9) - The first introduction to football: developing fundamental physical skills in a safe, fun and rewarding environment    (age 4 is accepted if turning 5 in the calendar year)

It is essential that young players are exposed to a high-quality experience that’s designed to meet their needs. This will be their first experience of practising and playing football in an organised environment, which can be the deciding factor for whether football becomes their sport of choice. That’s why it’s crucial that the playing experience is fun and exciting right from the start, and is sustained throughout the season. This initiation phase allows children to discover the game, provides for basic fundamental movement skills and creates a positive football experience. The key to providing a high-quality experience is understanding the needs of young children. Through understanding the stage of development they are at, and how they see the world, we can create a positive coaching and playing environment. It's always important to remember that we are developing the person not just the player.

Saturday Fun match games ('not a competition')

We will have 3 x 15 Minute games.

Teams are named by a colour, and will need a parent to be the Team Leader.

It is a fun job, and the success of the whole First Kicks / Fun Football relies on the experience being exciting, active, and smooth for the players, so parent volunteers are needed to make it so.

This rewarding job exists of:

  • do warm-up on Saturday
  • do substitutions/rotate players
  • choose Player of Day
  • be a motivator
  • keep parents informed about changes/cancellation for Saturday
  • collect team shirts at end of season

Come talk to us if you can help.

Training helpers

  • Helping to run a skill/fun station on Wednesdays
  • Setting up your station every Wednesday before practice starts

Please note: You don't need special knowledge or experience! You will get information and help on our first meeting. The club will offer a skills course as well.
