POSITIVE SUPPORT AND FAIR PLAY
At Motueka AFC we offer positive support and encouragement to all players at all times. We applaud all good play & good conduct we see on the pitch. We rely on our unpaid volunteer referees to keep the league running so please accept their rulings, decisions and requests – it sets a good example to the children and will make you a better person, honest! Any questions or unresolved issues that may arise during a game can be addressed through your coach. Unless an issue of player safety exists, the emphasis must be on allowing a game to continue. Coaches and team management are responsible for the conduct and behaviour of parents associated with their team and for contacting the Junior Committee if they need support or advice about an incident or have concerns about sideline behaviour at any games their team attends.
Motueka supports FIFA Fair Play initiatives. The generic concept of fair play is a fundamental part of the game of football. It represents the positive benefits of playing by the rules, using common sense and respecting fellow players, referees, opponents and fans.
The Fair Play Campaign was conceived largely as an indirect result of the 1986 FIFA World Cup™ in Mexico, when the handball goal by Diego Maradona suggested all was not well!
Children need strong values to grow up with, and football, being a team sport, makes them realise how essential discipline, respect, team spirit and fair play are for the game and for life.
FIFA's Fair Play Campaign is represented by the slogan "My Game is Fair Play".
