The Junior Indoor Volleyball Pathway supports athletes as they progress through the national junior programmes and towards the New Zealand Under 20 Teams.
The pathway aims to prepare athletes for future opportunities with the Volley Ferns, Volley Blacks, college scholarships and professional volleyball overseas.
The New Zealand Under 20 Men’s and Women’s Teams operate on a two-year cycle, with the aim of competing at the Asian U20 Championships, sanctioned by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC).
The Under 20 teams provide a key transition between junior and senior national team programmes.
Athletes are identified through national trials, national programmes and key domestic competitions including NZ Secondary Schools (NZSS), Inter-Provincial Championships (IPC) and NZ Club Championships.
National coaches and selectors attend these competitions to scout and track athletes throughout the Junior Pathway.
