Code of Conduct

At ACG Parnell, sport plays an integral role in developing character, teamwork, and a sense of community. To ensure a positive and respectful environment for all, this Sports Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all individuals involved in our sporting programmes -including players, coaches, and spectators.


All members of the ACG Parnell community are expected to uphold the values of integrity, respect, and fair play at all times. Whether on the field, court, sideline, or in the stands, every individual plays a role in fostering an environment that reflects the high standards of our school.

By participating in or attending any sporting match/event associated with ACG Parnell, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and respectful sporting culture.

Player Code of Conduct

  1. Demonstrate dedication to practice and games. This includes attending all meetings, trainings and games and notifying your coach or manager in advance if you cannot make it.
  2. Abide by all uniform expectations for your sporting code. If incorrect uniform is worn, you will not take to the court/field.
  3. Always strive for personal and team improvement.
  4. Compete honestly and abide by the rules of the game and the spirit of fair play.
  5. Avoid any form of cheating or unsportsmanlike conduct.
  6. Show respect to coaches, teammates, opponents and officials.
  7. Be a good sport – recognise and applaud honestly and wholeheartedly good play from your teammates and opposition.
  8. Display good sportsmanship regardless of the outcome – handle victory with humility and defeat with grace.
  9. Act as a positive role model both in and out of the sporting arena and uphold the values of sportsmanship and respect in all interactions.
  10. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  11. Prioritize physical and mental well-being.
  12. Adhere to safety guidelines and seek medical attention when necessary.
  13. Understand that sport is a privilege, and you may lose that privilege if your actions are considered unacceptable, you are involved in any form of misconduct or your actions put yourself or others in danger.

Coach/Manager Code of Conduct

  1. Undertake your responsibilities with professionalism.
  2. Ensure all players always wear the correct uniform. Players should not take to the court/field if they are in incorrect playing uniform.
  3. Lead by example.
  4. Be honest and consistent
  5. Always use appropriate and acceptable language.
  6. Maintain high standards of integrity. Operate within the rules of the sport and in the spirit of fair play, while encouraging your athletes to do the same.
  7. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  8. Protect your athletes from any form of abuse.
  9. Advise the Sports Coordinator of any problems you encounter with your team throughout the season.
  10. Any incidents/accidents will be reported to the Sports Coordinator as soon as possible.

Supporters Code of Conduct

  1. Encourage your child to abide by the code of conduct
  2. Support good play and applaud good performance from all competitors.
  3. Remember that your child plays sport for their reasons, not yours. Never place undue pressure on your child to perform.
  4. Display self-control on the sideline, always be positive.
  5. Always use appropriate and acceptable language when interacting with members of the sports community. This includes members of ACG Parnell, the opposing school and officials.
  6. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  7. Accept referee decisions whether you agree or not.
  8. Young people learn by taking risks and making mistakes, encourage this.
  9. Show appreciation to people who volunteer their time so your child can play.
