General Information

Protect your members. This season there will be a big push to follow best practice and protect our young people by getting helpers to sign up through ANZ Gameday as either a Volunteer or Community Coach Membership FREE.

Keep up to date with the changes in the Incorporated Societies Act HERE. Your society can apply for reregistration under the Incorporated Societies Act 2022 (the new Act) from 5 October 2023. Until your society reregisters it continues to operate under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908 (the existing Act).

Otago Children's Athletics Trust. 

Supporting the participation in and development of children’s club and inter club athletics in the Otago region.  Children referes to 14 years and under.

Competition Numbers/Bibs to be collected on the day of event 20min prior to start of race.

Webscorer. AO has 5 licences for this timing app.  Get in touch for training and access to help with club events.

Membership for U20 starts 1 April 2023 and goes till 31 March 2024.  Encouage your members to sign up early and take advantage of the many events that are offered.

Entries are open to both Club & Community Members. The price changes accordingly.  So work your Facebook pages and encourage your existing members to bring along friends and family.

Competition Numbers/Bibs to be issued by AO direct as follows:

Children: Issued from AO.  Pickup Saturday Interclub. Numbers will be specific to age so no Age Grade patches needed.

Seniors: Life time numbers are to be issued due to 12month rolling membership for 20+competitive.  Pick up on day of competition.

Dunedin will be hosting the NZ Track & Field Champs 14-17th March 2025.  Will will need an army of helpers and considerable sponsorship funds to pull this event off.  If you can help please get in touch: [email protected]

Officials, Coaches & Volunteers

Signing up as a community coach or volunteer requiries your ID to be verified by an approved ID Verifer.

Coaches

Athletics NZ is encouraging those who have been coaching for a minumum of 3 years to apply for accrediated coaching membership ($60 annual) or ($130 for 3 years). Sign up with ANZ through Gameday

Community Coach Membership is most suited to those who are new on their coaching journey, but can also include club coaches, parent coaches and Foundation Programme coaches. FREE. Sign up with ANZ through Gameday. Involves police vetting & ID verification which can be organised by AO by contacting the Administrator.

Become a Mentor to up and coming coaches. Details by the end of July.

Caledonian Bookings for Training can be made by contacting the Administrator.  The track is open to the public but by making a boooking we are contacted if the track becomes unavailable.

Femmi Accrediation. Athletics NZ has teamed up with Femmi and offer the following discounts to Athletics NZ registered coaches:1-year registered coaches receive access to the course for $50 (a $100 discount)3-year registered coaches receive the course for $30 (a $120 discount)Discount codes are provided in the coach membership letters. https://athletics.org.nz/athletics-nz-partners-with-femmi/

Officials

A or B Graded Officials required for Emersons Marathon & Balclutha Half Marathon as these are AO Championship events.  Get in contact.

Volunteers

If you help out with Club activiites & are not a coach or official, please register yourself as a volunteer through Gameday.

The Cross Country Committee would love to hear from you if would like to help to marshal an Athletics Otago Out of Stadia event.  No qualifications necessary.

The Emersons Dunedin Marathon is organised by Caversham Harriers and they are always keen to hear from people keen to help marshal on the day 15 Sept 2024.  Get in touch.

The sports industry is fast becomiing a fantastic career choice for many individuals.  At Athletics Otago we can offer a wide variety of experiences to help you on your way.  Get in touch if you are interested in work experience.

The next membership year will open from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, noting that 15+ Social & 20+ competitive is now a rolling 12 month membership (so sign up anytime to get 12ths membership).

New membership of 20-22 applies from 1 April 2024.
