Basketball Otago are taking registrations for the 2025 season.
All grades play for 12 weeks: 8th May - 14th AugustThere are three grades this year:
Year 1 and 2: Bounce 3 v 3 (maximum 6 players per team), half court, 30 minute games: Thursday afternoons from 3.30pm COST $30
Year 3 and 4: Mini 4 v 4 (maximum 7 players per team), half court, 30 minute games: Thursday afternoons from 3.30pm COST $35
Year 5 and 6: Pro 5 v 5 (maximum 8 players per team), full court, 30 minute games: Thursday afternoons from 3.30pm COST $40Parents will be responsible for transporting their child to and from the games.All children will need to wear a mouth guard for all games.In order to enter teams in the competition, we will require parents to assist with coaching and managing the teams. PLEASE NOTE: Each team must supply one person for the score bench for their own games. If each team supplies a score bench person, no disputes can occur. Coaches will also be required to help with refereeing for Mini and Bounce competitions.
The number of teams we will be able to enter into the competition will depend upon parental support in coaching and managing. As per other Balaclava School sport codes late registrations may not get accepted depending on team / parent coach numbers.Please complete and submit the form below by Monday 7th of April in order for teams to be collated and submitted to Basketball Otago.
Basketball New Zealand Player Development Levy
Basketball New Zealand has introduced a player levy fee in 2025 which requires all players who wish to play basketball to register and pay $5.00 for the year to play Basketball and in return, better resources, enhanced experiences and exclusive VIP benefits with Basketball New Zealand! All the information about the BBNZ player levy and why it has been introduced is attached to the email (additional information can also be found on the Basketball NZ website).
To register, you can follow the prompts in the email or Basketball Otago will be holding two FREE Community Days on Monday 28 April and Thursday 1 May 2025 where this will allow parents and players to come down get your registration with the help of the Basketball Otago team and throughout these days, we’ll have free activations, skills and drills, dedicated Girls Got Game area, a sausage sizzle and spot prizes throughout the afternoon.
