Hello Tennis Community,

Our NEW Monday coaching tennis program is set to start on the 10th of February 2025 for a 7-week

session ending on the 31st of March. Please view the below details of each

available session and appropriate year sign up.

Program Dates: February 10, 17, 24 / March 3, 10, 17, 31 (7 Weeks)

*Please note: No tennis on the 24th of March for observance of Otago Anniversary.

**(If we need to cancel a full day because of rain, we will have 1 make up day to be held on the 7th of

April).

Staff on site: We will have a staff member present at the Stevenson Tennis Centre throughout the

program. The gate will be open from 3:30pm for students/families to

access facilities and will close shortly after all students have been

collected at the last session.

Equipment/Tennis Balls: All tennis equipment is provided for. You are welcome to bring your own

racquet, but should you need to borrow one, our friendly coaches will get

you sorted with an appropriately sized racquet.

Sessions/ times:

(Session 1) 3:45 - 4:30pm, (45 min) Year 2,3,4

(Session 2) 4:30 - 5:30pm, (1 hr) Year 5 & 6

(Session 3) 5:30 – 6:30pm, (1 hr) Year 7 & 8

Rain Cancellations: The School Sports Coordinators will be notified through email between 3-3:15,

should the program be cancelled due to the safety condition of the courts.

A notice will also be placed on the front gate and the Tennis Otago

Facebook page.

Coaching: Tennis Otago has employed their very own coaches to facilitate this new program.

What to expect: Tennis Otago’s friendly and motivated coaches will guide the players through the

fundamentals of tennis, while keeping it fun and active.

Session 1 (year 2,3,4): Students will move, swing, cooperate, and develop basic tennis skills.

Developing a positive and fun environment is key to helping young children enjoy the game and prepare

them for long term success in the sport.

Session 2 & 3 (years 5,6,7,8): Students will be shown the core fundamentals of all strokes and

positioning to be able to sustain a rally and begin to enjoy the game. Engaging drills and games are

used to make the learning process fun and install a supportive team environment.

Everyone is welcome! Whether you are giving tennis a go for the first time or you have played many

times before. WE ARE HAPPY THAT YOU ARE HERE!
