Bay View Bowling Club Inc - President's Report 2012
It is my pleasure to present the 2012 annual report.
We have had a good year both bowling and socially. The club finances are looking sound going forward to next year and I must thank Graeme for the many hours of work he has put in to looking after our finances.
I must thank the execuitve and all sub-committees for their efforts over the year - to those who are standing down thank you for your efforts and I look forward to working with the new members of the executive.Beryl, a tireless worker is stepping down from secretary, but taking up the women's vice presidency and I welcome Graeme Cross to the secretary's position and wish him well. Our thanks go to all those who look after the grounds and buildings - mowing, spraying, trimming hedges, vacumming the green, cleaning windows, repairs and maintenance, painting etc and to Steph who keeps our clubrooms so clean.Bev and Judy our match committee convenors for organising all competitions and tournaments and running them so well and Jim for his efforts with the club champs. Ray and his team for running the winter bowls and the Gardiner Shield and to our umpires Barbara, Bev & Ray (measurer) who made themselves available when required. Thanks to all the women and men who help in the kitchen and with raffles - Louise and Ken for their purchasing skills re the kitchen and raffles.Sponsorship has been well organised by Garry - please remember we are always looking for sponsors.Wayne and Bill who look after the bar so well plus all those on the bar roster do a great job.John and his team of helpers did a great job with the men's toilet revamp made possible by a grant from the Eastern & Central Community Trust. John has also organised our new honours board and the shield on the clubhouse.Barry puts a huge effort into his role as club captain and with Joe runs the successful Friday nights.
Congratulations to everyong who won club champs outside events both locally and in other centres, interclub and centre titles. Special mention must be made of the women's 7's who won the regional title and went on to the national playoffs. Barry and Beryl put a lot of time into coaching and selecting,
We had Tiger Turf look at the base of the green and some work was done but they advised us that in the future it will have to be reformed.
The sad loss of Gary Taurimu was felt by us all and our sympathies go out to his family and friends to the families of Ron Bowles and Olive Fraser (both in their 90's) and great supporters of the club and what was happening, and also to the families of all those who have lost loved ones.
Finally, I hope all members had an enjoyable year and are looking forward to the new season Thank you for your support, tolerance and humour over the year. Communicating and working together is going to keep our club as the place to be to spend our valuable leisure time.
