We will continue to run as a fun club this season. This means we will still have all the same track, field and fun events but will no longer be affiliated with Athletics New Zealand and not participating in interclub events. However we now have a portal option where any children aged 7-14 who are wishing to participate in interclub events (such as Ribbon Days, Taranaki Champs and Colgate Games) are able to do so- if interested in this please see us for more information.


We will require parent help with measuring and recording at the field events, judging at the finish line and with the fun games. Without parent help we will be unable to run the events so please help out when you can. If you know of anybody in the community who would like to help that may not have children attending please have them get in touch with us.


Events: 2-5 year olds will have 2 races along with fun games (hopefully with extra parent help we can also include some field events- throwing and jumping for this age group), 6-9 year olds will have 60m, 100m, 200m, longjump, shotput and discus, 10-14 year olds will have 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, longjump, shotput and discus.


Please read the notice board and listen to announcements at the start of each night for any other information.

Club Rules

  1. No dogs are allowed on the park during athletics time for safety of the children.
  2. Name tags will be issued upon registration and are required to be worn every week for points to be awarded.


Points

Points will be awarded each night and added up at the end of the season for prize giving. Every child completing an event receives a participation point, with the children placing in events receiving additional points based on their placing. Points can only be awarded if children come to the desk after their races to have their names recorded so please make sure all children come to the desk every race. Athletes are not entitled to get points for the season until their full fees are paid. Numbers must be worn every week without fail. This is a club rule and no exceptions will be made.


Cancellations and Updates

These will be posted on our website – www.sporty.co.nz/bellblockathletics and on the local community Facebook pages. Cancellations will be announced around 5pm on Tuesdays.                                                                                                                                                         

We hope you all have a great season and the children enjoy themselves.

Remember children must enjoy themselves before they will achieve. Encouragement goes a very long way.
